Fake it or believe it?

How often have you or others suggested you ‘fake it until you make it’, only to be disappointed when not making it?

During a recent executive coaching conversation, we discussed the distinction between ‘fake it until you make it’ and ‘believe it until you become it’.

To ‘fake it’, is to live in hope. To hope is to leave things to chance. To believe it, is to have conviction. Our conviction is the source of our courage and commitment to make things happen – to own what we want to do and be rather than hoping for it.

Leaders never leave things to chance. Do you?
